Apple Tree Golf Course

Bald Eagle Golf course

Point Roberts, WA

  • Eric Anders Lang did an episode on it. Pre COVID it was an awesome course, but suffered due to its location. They spent a lot in it last year so hopefully it returns to its former glory. The course is fairly normal but the location is very strange unless you're from the Vancouver area.

Wildwood Golf Course

Portland, OR

  • That place is keeping it weird.. It’s a ton of fun, but the first time playing there can be frustrating. To piggy back this comment. It’s carved into the mountains (well, just outside Forest Park) to make the course fit and several par 4s have no real flat lay up, may as well try to drive near a green and see if you get a good chip. First several times may be questioning where the intended tee shot line is. The par 3s are very fun - up the cart path, way down to the greens. And power lines on 9 are in play off the tee. Iirc the course rule is mulligan allowed if hit on the tee shot.

Canyons Golf Club

Park City, UT

$65-$125

  • Built on the side of a ski resort at about 7k’ feet above sea level. The weirdness hits on hole 6, par 5, 400 yards from the tips. 400 feet downhill making it entirely drivable, goofy little bottle neck on the right side of the fairway right next to million dollar condos. 8th hole, the green sits right below a gondola and if the pin is in the back, there’s 100% a chance of hitting it. There’s not a course in Utah that I’ve played yet that’s a worse design than that thing.

Sand Hollow Golf Club

Hurricane, UT

  • Like playing on mars

Wellman Public Golf Course

Wellman, IA

Honor System

  • One of 3 or 4 golf courses in Iowa with sand greens. You can find sand green courses elsewhere too. I guess it was a thing after the Dust Bowl in the Midwest.

Eagle Vines Golf Club

American Canyon, CA

$30-$89

  • There are multiple holes where you play through grapevines, as in the fairway cuts through an active vineyard with rows and rows of vines on each side instead of deep rough.

Tahoe Paradise Golf Club

South Lake Tahoe, CA

$35-$82

  • Super funky. Dog leg par 4 where you can only hit 140 yards out. Par 3 with big trees blocking the green. It’s truly a target golf type course. Never played any courses where you have the shot shape every hole

Midnight Sun Golf Course

Fairbanks, AK

-

  • The northernmost golf course in America(allegedly) and it’s built on permafrost

Yellow Knife Golf Course

Northwest Territories, Canada

-

  • Hosts an annual tournament that is an 18 hole scramble that tees off at 6:00pm then a 9 hole scramble that tees off at 11:59pm on June 21.

Couer d'Alene Resort Golf Course

Couer d'Alene, ID

  • One of the par 3s is a movable island that you take a small boat out to to chip/putt. The other holes along the water are all quirky and fun to play as well. Then the inland holes are just boring back and forth par 4/5s.

Blue Lakes Golf Course

Twin Falls, ID

Private

  • It was cut into the snake river canyon with dynamite while they were building the bridge… so it’s in the bottom of a canyon. Has some very scenic holes… including one that looks over where Evil Knievel jumped the snake river canyon…Has a par 3 with a huge elevation drop. Has a short double-blind par 4 where you can’t see where you are hitting your tee shot… and then you can’t see the green from the fairway.
